What are you listening to right now?

Nice. I listen to this album all the time

Bass driven music with an incredible orchestra…

Lots of interesting music posted, are these tunes often part of your practice list?

What songs are everyone actually playing when you play bass?

so what’s on your practice lists this week?

My listening is separate from what i’m working on. Does some stuff I listen to make it to a “would be nice to learn” list? Yes. But I’m not specifically listening to it to find new tunes to play. Not with the amount i listen to. What I post here is generally full albums that I’ve listened to, but most of the time at work i have the iPod on shuffle.

Songs I’m currently actively working on include:

  • Metallica - Harvester of Sorrow
  • Metallica - The Struggle Within
  • Metallica - Halo On Fire
  • Anthrax - A.I.R.
  • Mercyful Fate - Into The Coven
  • Temple Of The Dog - Say Hello 2 Heaven
  • King Diamond - Abigail
  • Megadeth - Sweating Bullets
  • Soundgarden - Outshined
  • A Perfect Circle - Hourglass

Yep absolutely. I don’t see any need to connect this topic with practice, or even bass. It’s simply about what people are currently listening to.

If there’s an appropriate thread about what people are playing beyond ‘post your covers ‘, please let me know.

Thanks to Vader for the list, I’ll be playing a few of those tonight for the first time.

I’m totally open to checking out what other people are playing to hopefully discover new tunes.

Yes. Search for “Post your Practice Fragments”.

Thanks for the direction guys.

Vader your work list was the best format and what I hoped would already be a thread with the list type structure.

No matter, I’ve got much to work on… thanks again…

Thinking about cEvin Key today. Here’s a track from one of the best eras for the band, excellent use of fretless bass in here too.

This is one of my favorites from that era.

Yep. I like the longer version but that and Tormentor are real standouts.

Dr. Funk…

The one from Tormentor, or am I forgetting (I blame old age) an extended version?

Yeah the video I posted “(Nature’s Revenge (dub)”, from the Tormenter 12”

Is’s about two minutes longer and extends the instrumental sections

I was hoping that I was forgetting about one from a Brap album that was like 8 min.

That actually would not surprise me at all

BTW I could be wrong about this but for some reason I actually associate that fretless with Bill Leeb. They used a fretless on Remission as well and Leeb helped out with that album, and I think I read somewhere that it was his. Could be way off base though.
