What are you smoking?

What are you smoking?

As a possible corollary perhaps to the “What are you sipping” thread… what do you like to light up?

I do not necessarily mean those substances of which musicians perhaps inhale (legal, illegal, legal in some areas, cigarettes, cigars, other…) I will neither confirm nor deny enjoying smoke-ables that are now “legal” in my state… but feel free to comment on those as well (if permissible by the Forum rules.)

…but I ask in relation to items of which I do enjoy and partake…

I used to enjoy clove cigarettes. I recently became re- acquainted with them when cleaning out my home office. I came across a 20 year old Djarum clove (one left in an metal container) that was a pure clove rolled in paper, non-filtered.) I figured after so many years that it would be stale- what do I have to lose but to try it… I could always snuff it if not good To my surprise, it was still rather tasty!

I tried to seek out this same clove cigarette to only find that Djarum now only makes a clove wrapped smokes in tobacco leaves, filtered. I have not been able to find a non-filtered clove wrapped in paper anywhere. If anyone has a lead, please enlighten me.

I am not necessarily a cigar aficionado. The tastes and flavours are, to me, are as varied as Scotch whiskey… not that it is a bad thing, but I like to focus in a simpler way to dial in on things that I do like. I did drill down on cigars many decades ago and singled out a brand called Maya. I think it was a Honduran smoke- have not found it in years.

What do you enjoy when and if you light up?

(If anyone has a lead on the Maya cigar or non- filtered cloves wrapped in paper, please clue me in.)

After having given up smoking weed about 10 years ago (best decision ever!), I started smoking normal cigarettes (worst decision ever!).
One day I noticed, that I smoke a pack a day … that was too much!

So I switched to vaping. First with 20mg nicotine, than 15, 10 and now 5mg.

My ability to smell returned, I did not smell like an old ashtray anyomer, I lost the craving … it’s all good.

My favourite liquid is “caramel/cream”. Not very manly, I know. But it’s like smoking a candy store

No smoke, anything, any more.

Smoked as much as possible non-tobacco every day for 25 years. Then no more.

Don’t miss it a bit.

Gave up cigarettes the night we found out that we were pregnant with our first baby and just picked up some Vape and just do menthol no cigarettes flavor. It’s been great and I do less than half.

Personally, I like cigars. I consider them an indulgence, and find them quite relaxing. And sometimes I will light a pipe.

I used to smoke a lot of weed and hashish. Coming up to my 9th year of not touching that stuff again.

Friend of mine sometimes smokes a cigar, he’s promised me that we’d try that one day.

Besides also bein interested in some good takes on a pellet grill for some slow cooked smoked ribs, I am also a enjoyer of some combustibles.

Daily I will enjoy a THC vape to take the edge off. Mostly Sativa strain. I can’t smoke it as much as I used to, but will take a puff is it’s passed my way.

One thing I have been enjoying for almost 35 years is a weekly cigar with friends. In our hay-day we were 20 people strong in our cigar group. Back in the days you could smoke indoors. I pitied the non-smokers on those days.

These days, we’re a group of 2, usually.

Living in Canada, I do have access to Cubans, but they are priced so prohibitively, they are no-go for me. Even non-Cubans, due to taxes, they are very expensive. When friends or family go to the states for any reason I request they mule me back some cigars ordered form holts.com.

Our go-tos are any of the Oliva brand. We discovered the budget sticks, Flor d’Oliva, and have been smoking those for 15 years now. Fantastic smoke with a lightly sweetened tip. Not like a swisher, or Old Port, just lightly sweet, not flavoured.

Yeah I am kind of LMAO. I am guessing the “what have I been sipping” topic might have inspired our boy here a bit.

That is not beyond the realm of possibility.

The only reason I am not blowing this off as the bittervet trolling it is is because I had thought he was better than this. We’ll see.

Three things:

  1. Bass players are human beings that have interests beyond music.
  2. A thread topic derailment is not the end of any worlds, because (see #1. in this list).
  3. We would all be wise to live by the immortal words: image

I delved into pipe tobacco some years ago. I found that the pipe would clog after only a few uses… the cleaning was too cumbersome for me at the time.

I like the many flavours and aroma of the enjoyment.
Maybe the cleaning of the pipe is part of the ritual of looking forward to the smoke; perhaps I should revisit.

Absolutely true. It is what it has always been.
