Oh wow, I’d forgotten that song. So cool.
Hmm…I’m weird. Learned a bunch of riffs, then some scales, went right to original songs. Only full cover I have ever played is Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters. Have a whole album of full original songs and 100s of recorded ideas. Maybe I should learn some covers all the way through!
I’m using covers to work on my music production skills, more than my bass skills. So they have been useful for that
That is a cool groove for sure
Still waiting for my Vox Amplug 2 to come in the mail (allegedly comes tomorrow), so I can actually hear my bass (finger exercises above the 12th fret are getting boring), but one of the first songs I want to learn is this one.
Being a beginner, I think I hear a lot of 12 bar blues in this one, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
I’m working on my next cover. Got the drums tracked and the bass done with a rough first cut. Here’s a small snippet, Joy Division fans might recognize it
Crisp
Thankyouverymuch
Sounds like a badass montage in a punk rock/skateboard movie.
I like to challenge myself to leave my comfort zones musically so today I began working on “Do I Do” by Stevie Wonder. I like to bounce away from my roots in metal music my end game is more jazz fusion. To be completely honest I love Les Claypool and Primus but I am not a very percussive player so maybe one day Lol
decided to work on “what is hip”…since we are going to be locked down again I should have a lot of extra time
Such a finger and ego destroyer!
I love this song.
Rocco is such a machine when he plays. Reminds me of a clip I saw today of Meshell Ndegeocello on her Instagram stories… mind blowing plucking control and articulation.
Goodluck and godspeed!!
Thanks Gio even if I fail to be able to get it all under my fingers there are going to be huge derivative benefits…rhats how I’m approaching it
This is well above my skill level, so I’m not really working on it per se.
But it gives me a bit of inspiration. Sounds like quite a marathon to play.
But all those 16ths…
I thought I was doing pretty good with Billy Idols Eyes without a face that I was working on today as my first song.
I’ve watched her and marcus miller double thumbing those 16ths for 6 minutes like it was nothing at all…I love this girl just watched a streaming show Tokyo Groove did they sound huge as a three piece
No guitarist, I love it.
Ha! And therein is the meaning of life.
Absolutely agree and wishing you great joy in all of it.
