Thanks guys!
I have really been enjoying the Squier Contemporary Jazz, it’s easy to play and it sounds good and I really like the look.
The Cure was my first favorite band when I was a little kid. They are still in my top 5, but I can’t really pick a favorite anymore.
I just looked up rocksmith, it looks pretty cool! How do you like it? Seems like Guitar Hero but you actually play along? Can you upload tracks into it or do you have to use their pre-loaded library?
Basically yeah, animated tab pretty much
I love it! Probably wouldn’t be into playing half as much as I am if it wasn’t for that to get me started
On pc, there’s literally thousands of custom tracks online, just needs a simple little mod (there’s a tool that does it for ya, with tons of other options too), and one specific dlc song from the online store (custom tracks “borrow” the song idea with some kind of wizardry I don’t know ).
Over 1000 songs in my collection currently, paid for maybe like 12 or somethin
thanks. Two challenging things on this one: (1) That 2-5 stretch is really hard for me and I often land short of the fret wire in the middle on the fret; (2) I am finding that my preferred angle of holding the bass makes picking tough, as I am always striking across at an angle instead of perpendicular, which creates an unwanted scratching/ringing sound
I’ll bet you a beer if you were out playing somewhere no one, including you, would notice.
Playing at home in otherwise quiet, under your own microscope creates lofty expectations that are just not reality. I struggle with this a lot more on sax, but on bass too for sure.
Thanks for the encouragement guys!
I would love to be in a band. I live in a small town, about 1300 people, and the surrounding towns are a little bigger and a little smaller. It’s been hard to find people.
I was talking to my buddy the other day, he just starting jamming with a band up where he lives. He is 39 and they are in their 70’s. It seems like the prime time to find bandmates is in high school/college, before work and families start, or after you retire.
I’m going to keep looking. There is a dance hall in my little town that was built in 1927 and I would really like to play there. It’s the perfect weekend activity for a small town. Live music and a taco truck is what I’m hoping for.
