You killed this one. I can tell you were really feeling it. Probably my favorite cover you’ve done so far.
side note: I wish I bought a t-shirt when I saw Duran Duran last year, but I was seeing The Cure the very next day so I was saving my money to buy merch there.
What a cool backdrop to your video! I thought it sounded good, well played. I think we are often our biggest critics. I know every mistake I make when I do a cover, that said, I didn’t notice any issue with your playing.
I agree with @Whying_Dutchman here. There have been plenty of songs with language posted and I haven’t seen a complaint. If I post a song that I think has excessive language I will post a little “content warning” in the post so someone can skip it if they choose.
Thanks, 401Blues! I think Tracks of My Tears will be the next Motown song I do. I have been working on What’s Going On at slower speed (85%), but there are 4 or 5 parts where the speed of play is so quick that if I record it, I’d have to simplify those parts…that song may be shelved for recording until I improve, but it is fun to practice.
@fennario, @Nebel and @JerryP …thanks for listening! After checking out a lot of covers on here, I htink the next step for me is to get an audio interface and learn how to use it.
Here’s a link to a guide that, some very amazing people on here did. I’m very bad at technical stuff, but with this guide here, i actually learned how to do it.
I had a go at this one a couple of months ago. What’s interesting is that we approached it slightly differently, in terms of the fills and the middle eight. This is what I love about playing, plus this covers thread - we all interpret songs differently, do our thing and have fun!!
Ok, I found it unfair that my black Ronin gets so much love, so I rushed another cover today on Pink’s Hot. That’s also a heavily modified Harley Benton MV-4MSB, but with DiMarzio DP126 pickups instead of the EMG GZR.
For plugins, I just used Sonible’s Smart:EQ 4 and Smart:comp 2. Ran it’s “AI” and that’s it. Most important thing was to be true to the pickup tone. And I was lazy…
I’m still ill (can’t talk and have some fever), so that makes me kind of mellow - which explains the choice of the song (and me sweating like a pig ^^).
I did find that it’s hard to play a slow song. With just plucking away a fast song, it’s easier to mask your little mistakes. With this song it’s much harder, as you can focus on every f#cking note when listening. But I love the moments when I get it right, so that’s that!
There are some strange distortions at the end of the song, possibly due to ASIO buffer size. Sorry for that - I wanted to play that song once, make the video, upload it and then forget about it
