I did a cover of this. . I put the tune into moasis and extracted the bass, reviewed a shit ton of tabs, and this was the best I found.

Why yes, yes I am  .
You can find my feeble attempt at their prelude here in bassbuzz somewhere. The transcription is the friendliest I’ve seen, and the site owner is really helpful. I would say definitely give it a go - at least the menuets :+1:

Your trusty bass teacher has covered that and made a follow up tutorial video.

I really like Leo’s channel @Old_WannaBe. My favorite Toto cover is by two part time / amateur musicians playing in a pizza shop. It’s made it to my IPod playlist.

I tried Josh’s transcription and TBH the Bach2bass one is better - or at least easier to learn…

I was actually thinking about getting a 5-string (EADGC) for Bach pieces. Maybe a Jazz. With a nice burst.

My ultimate goal song is this Tower of Power gem, with the late great Rocco Prestia on bass. He played it at 110 bpm. I’ve been using a funk/r&b backing track to build up 16th note endurance and accuracy, but still using the 80 bpm track which is about 10 minutes long. It’s amazing that by the end of that 10 minutes, the 16th notes are all over the place. I don’t know how long it will take to get to the accuracy and endurance to play 16th’s at 110 for the full 5 minutes. Interested in what others are experiencing in heavy 16th songs.

Oh wow you are a brave man!
Good luck to you on this one.
This is a far away goal for me for sure.
At least I can play the bari sax part, lol.

It’s going to be hard work but I reckon my strumming will be on point by the end

Timing that third note will take some practice but this may be my first cover

My first playthrough of Another Brick in the Wall Pt2. 1st song in the 50 song challenge.
I’m recording my progress so there are mistakes. Also the bass is MUCH too loud on purpose for my edumacation. Watch your volume.

Pretty nice job, some timing blips here and there and note duration blops but overall nice job @groaner !!

Please post this over here…

What I notice is your E string volume is much louder than the others, but the rest, although a bit high in the mix, is quite ok for ‘edumacational purposes’…might want to adjust your pickup down a bit on that side or watch your plucking force.
Your tone is very good for this tune.

Thanks John!
Yes, blips and blops, and the odd blorp will be common for the start, I welcome them with open arms.

I do believe I am plucking it harder, but I’ll check that out just in case.

I’m going to wait until I have a better recording before I enter the realm of the Challenge threads

well done @groaner ! I am a fellow must-dance-when-playing bass student :joy: It won’t be long before you nail this tune 100%. Have fun!
